Stars added much needed Veteran Defenseman
The Dallas Stars have added another veteran defenseman to their
roster. Former Ottawa Senator Marc Methot is on his way to Dallas.
Methot spent last season with the Ottawa Senators before being
selected by the Vegas Golden Night in the expansion draft. He has two
years left on his current contract at $4.9 million per year. In
return, the Stars are sending a 2020, second round draft choice and
recently drafted goalie Dylan Ferguson to the Vegas Golden Knights.
Ferguson was the Stars’ seventh round draft choice (194 overall) .
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to acquire a player of
Marc’s caliber,” GM JIm Nill said, “He has proven to be a capable and
steady defenseman that can play well with an offensive-minded partner,
and he will add a tremendous amount of leadership and experience to
our blueline.”
Dallas drafted Finnish defenseman Miro Heiskanen third overall he
is expected to eventually be added to a group that already includes
John Klingberg, Esa Lindell and Julius Honka.
