College Football Playoff Dec. 3, 2017, Rankings (Sixth of Six in ’17)Next Rankings: October, 2018 (25th all-time – CFP Selection Sunday)Quick Notes:– Three different conference teams have captured the CFP in its first three seasons – Ohio State (Big Ten) in 2014, Alabama (Southeastern) in 2015 and Clemson (Atlantic Coast) in ’16. Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Georgia are the four semifinalists in 2017, and Alabama and Clemson will meet for the third consecutive year in the CFP – this time in the semifinals and playing for the overall title after both the 2015 and ’16 seasons.- Alabama now holds the BCS/CFP record for consecutive weeks in either standings with 73 appearances from 2008-17. USC previously appeared in 65 consecutive BCS standings from 2002-09 for the previous mark. Next on the listings in either rankings are Texas with 56 from 2003-10 and Ohio State with 50 from 2004-10.- Alabama (12 times), Clemson (eight), Mississippi State (three), and Georgia (two) are the only schools to hold down the No. 1 position in four seasons of CFP standings.- Conference school representation among the 64 schools in the first 24 CFP standings has been AAC – 6, ACC – 12, Big Ten – 8, Big 12 – 7, C-USA – 1, Independent – 3, MAC – 3, MWC – 2, Pac-12 – 10, SEC – 12, and Sun Belt – 0.- There have been three schools appearing in each of the first 25 2014-17 CFP standings. They are Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State. No school appeared in all 125 BCS standings from 1998-2013. Texas had the most Top 15/25 showings with 104 over 16 seasons in the BCS.- In the BCS era (1998-2013), there were 30 undefeated teams in the final BCS Standings. From 2014-16, there were six additional teams.
