Quinn Earns First-Team Accolades From PFF, Sutton Named Honorable Mention By SB Nation

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU wide receiver Trey Quinn earned first-team All-America accolades from Pro Football Focus, and Courtland Sutton was named an honorable mention All-America selection by SB Nation, the organizations announced this week.

First-team All-Conference selection Quinn was named to Pro Football Focus’ All-American first-team offense. One of three wide receivers to earn the honor, Quinn was also a semifinalist for both the Biletnikoff Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

Quinn leads the nation in receptions per game (8.8), and has posted two of the three top-reception performances in the FBS this season with 17 catches at Houston and at Cincinnati. He also became the only player this century to register 15+ catches in three straight games.

The junior joins Sutton with the sixth-best receiving touchdown total in the nation at 12, and posts top-10 rankings in both receiving yards (1,191) and receiving yards per game (99.3). Quinn has a team-leading 106 receptions, placing him second on SMU’s single-season receptions list. His 1,191 receiving yards are fourth in a season for a Mustang.

Sutton, who was recently named first-team All-American Athletic Conference, has a team high and is tied for sixth nationally with 12 receiving touchdowns in 2017. His 1,017 receiving yards give him 3,152 for his career placing him sixth among active FBS leaders, while his career receiving touchdowns (31) place him third.

The junior is second all-time at SMU in career receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and 100+ yard games (14). He has also put together a streak of 35 consecutive games with a reception, tying him for ninth nationally.

A preseason Heisman Trophy candidate and All-America selection, Sutton was named to the Biletnikoff and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Preseason Watch Lists this season.

The Mustangs face Louisiana Tech in the DXL Frisco Bowl on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN.
