Spezza veteran leadership moves from center to right wing
Dallas Stars Captain Jamie Benn and RW Alexander Radulov were
the first to congratulate veteran Jason Spezza after his first goal of
the season. It took some time for the 34-year-old veteran to score as
he explained just what he’s been going through moving from center to
right wing while seeing his time on ice drop an average of three
minutes a game.
“He’s been really, really positive throughout the process,”
assistant coach Stu Barnes said. “He’s been a good pro, he continues
to work every day, he’s engaged. He wants to talk not only in
practice, but even during the game Its important when you’re a player
who has been dominant in this game.”
Spezza has played 934 games and has 871 points (319 goals, 552
assists). He was the second overall pick in 2001, and before the past
two seasons he was a point a game player. Spezza came into Pro hockey
after making the cover of Sports Illustrated at the age of 16. With
Dallas Stars Head Coach system, its not unusual to see top liners like
Benn, Radulov and most recently, Tyler Seguin skating with the
