hi-res-183600117-starting-pitcher-clayton-kershaw-of-the-los-angeles_crop_northDALLAS – DBU Athletics and the Patriot Baseball program invite you, your family, and friends, to the campus of Dallas Baptist University on Friday, February 2, for a special event entitled Champions for Christ: An Evening with Clayton Kershaw.

Individual tickets are available for purchase online at DBUTickets.com. The cost of each ticket is $15. For groups of twenty (20) of more, $10 tickets are available by calling the DBU Ticket office at (214) 333-5436 or by emailing timothy@dbu.edu.

Kershaw was drafted by the Dodgers out of Highland Park High School and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history. A three-time Cy Young Award winner and 2014 National League Most Valuable Player, Kershaw holds the current career ERA mark for players who have pitched at least 1,000 innings.

He made his Major League debut with the Dodgers in 2008 and, at the time, was the youngest player in the big leagues at age 20. In 2011, he won the National League Triple Crown with the lowest ERA, highest number of strikeouts, and the most wins and, in 2014, threw a no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies.

Kershaw and his wife, Ellen, still reside in Highland Park and are very active in Christ-centered humanitarian causes around the world, specifically here at home in Dallas and in Lusaka, Zambia, where they have spearheaded the funding to build children’s homes and are currently working to complete funding for a new community school. Clayton and Ellen also are involved with CURE International in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to provide inpatient surgical and rehabilitative care for disabled children.

Also on the program will be WFAA’s chief meteorologist and DBU board of trustees member Pete Delkus, along with Head Coach Dan Heefner. Additionally, there will be a reception in Sadler Hall with the Patriot Baseball Team following the conclusion of the program.

Please join us on Friday, February 2, at 7:15 p.m. in Patty and Bo Pilgrim Chapel for this special evening with Clayton Kershaw and Patriot Baseball.
