Hanzal return is a Stars Offensive Asset
Martin Hanzal’s various injury issues had created nightmares for Dallas Stars coach Ken  Hitchcock, who said;
“My plan is to get Hanzal up to 16 or 17 minutes and possibly play him in Spezza’s place. I think that depends on how each guy is playing. We won’t be afraid to make that change after starting Hanzal on the fourth line in a 4-3 win over New Jersey. With Hanzal with Radulov and Janmark in the last game they had 16 scoring chances. That was a good setup before Hanzal went down, and we’re not afraid to use it again.”
The dilemma of juggling Hanzal and Spezza is what coaches call a “good problem to have, “but we’ve seen those good problems be real issues for the Stars in the past. Hanzal is a big (6-6, 230), strong center who can win faceoffs and kill penalties. He has battled injuries for years, but at 31 should still have the energy to be a key player in a top-six role. He played top-six minutes in Arizona for years and said before the season he sees himself as a top-two center.
