The Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation announced today the finalists for the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award (BBCSA) for the 2018 season. The award takes into account performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity in evaluating Division 1 baseball players in the state of Texas. This year 34 players from 20 universities were nominated by their programs to be considered for the award.

The three finalists for the 2018 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award are:
• Kody Clemens, Jr. – University of Texas. Kody was named the Big 12 Player of the Year while leading the league in homers (19, 7th nationally), total bases and slugging percentage. UT will host a NCAA Regional this weekend. Kody is a communications major who is described as “a fierce competitor who takes pride in his leadership both on and off the field”.
• Devlin Granberg, Sr. – Dallas Baptist University. Devlin was named the Missouri Valley Conference Hitter of the Year after leading the league in virtually every offensive category. Granberg’s .426 average led the MVC and ranked him third nationally. Delvin will lead the Patriots into the Arkansas Regional in Fayetteville this weekend. He is a kinesiology major who carries a 4.0 GPA.
• Josh Jung, So. – Texas Tech University. Josh led the Big 12 in batting average (.381), runs (63) and RBI (73, 5th nationally). He was a first-team, All-Big 12 performer, following a freshman of the year campaign in 2017. Tech will host one of the NCAA Regionals this weekend. Josh is a communications major who was on the Dean’s List in the fall.
“We are extremely excited to name these outstanding young men as finalists for the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award,” said BBCSA executive director Tracy Taylor. “Each of these student-athletes had a great year at the plate and are even better representatives of their programs and schools.”

The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall.
