Alabama visited the White House Monday afternoon and was feted by U.S. Pres. Barack Obama for its 2012 BCS title. Head coach Nick Saban also presented the President and key dignitaries present with Alabama No. 1 jerseys and other key title memorabilia…Arizona and Brigham Young will meet in even-numbered years 2016-18-20…Florida State and Notre Dame will tangle in 2014…Mississippi State and Ole Miss will tussle in the Golden Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. (CST) on ESPN from Starkville, Miss. It’s their first Thanksgiving bash since the 2003 season and 26th in series history…Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri State are finalizing possible negotiations to play their Sept. 21 contest at St. Louis’ Busch Stadium…Arizona State and Notre Dame are seeking a solution about their current 2014 contest, which may have to be rescheduled…Wyoming’s season opener has been confirmed for Saturday. Aug. 31, at Nebraska…Ohio State’s spring game in Cincinnati last Saturday was the Buckeyes’ first appearance in Cincy since the 2002 season…San Jose State certified its Sept. 21 non-conference clash at Minnesota and a probable national telecast in San Jose Friday, Sept. 27, against Utah State…California has introduced new football uniforms and logos for 2013…Vanderbilt initiated spring training Dores at Dawn for conditioning and contact workouts at 5 a.m. weekdays and played the annual Black-Gold presented by Cook’s Pest Control last Saturday…Old Dominion has a waiting list of almost 5,000 enthusiasts for 2013 season tickets…UAlbany football led a special guided tour and fans’ sneak peak at the construction on Bob Ford Field slated to open in December…Colorado State has set its 2013 season and individual ticket pricing…Boise State is elevating its 2013 ticket prices slightly.

Rutgers football visited and inspired the Embrace Kids Foundation…Salem State athletics participated in and helped coach Special Olympians in a recent regional meet…Fordham football team members and dozens of other Ram athletes helped with the Sandy Solidarity Project to help clean up neighborhoods and boroughs damaged by Hurricane Sandy…Uplifting Athletes and Nebraska athletics continue to raise awareness for juvenile cancer after the showing by seven-year-old cancer survivor/battler Jack Hoffman at NU’s Red-White Game in Lincoln. Hoffman’s 69-yard TD run has had millions of viral hits worldwide…Texas head coaches offered the Dine With a Coach to raise needed funds for the community outreach Neighborhood Longhorns programs…Longtime Wisconsin coach and administrator Bo Ryan has received the 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer Champion Award…LSU student-athletes continued their monthly visits to patients in area hospitals last week…Thiel student-athletes read to and greeted young students at Zion Community Preschool…Baylor has highlighted spring football and related activities with its popular Community Tailgate Weekends…Ohio State athletics recognized 30 football scholar-athletes at its recent sports award banquet…Embry-Riddle athletics raised $2,000 in the Cancer Relay for Life race at Daytona Beach, Fla…Colorado athletics held the largest garage school in school history last Friday-Saturday to raise money for 2013-14 scholarships.

New Jacksonville State head coach Bill Clark made his public debut in last Friday’s J-Day Game at Jacksonville, Ala….Bowling Green named Dennis Slutak director of football operations…Old Dominion has chosen former Boston College defensive line coach Jeff Comissiong as assistant head coach/defensive line…UAlbany head coach Bob Ford added tight ends coach Kevin Ross and wide receivers coach Aaron Smith to his Great Danes staff…Archie Collins was named cornerbacks coach at Central Michigan…Georgia Tech hired Bryan Cook as quarterbacks coach…Florida defensive coach Bryant Young will not return for 2013 as he seeks more time with his family…Utah State named Waqa Damuni as assistant AD for football operations…Nevada selected Ashley Lelie as offensive quality control coach.

Carl Kirschner has been named interim director of athletics at Rutgers…UCF AD Todd Stansbury and key staff members addressed last week’s Golden Knight Club Spring Forum in Orlando, Fla….Idaho State AD Jeff Tingey was featured in a recent regional story about the future of college football…Longtime Southeastern Conference and Kentucky athletics administrator DeWayne Peevy has been tabbed as deputy director of athletics at UK…Delaware elected Jay Shirley as senior associate AD for facilities, operations and capital growth…San Jose State named Blake Sasaki senior associate AD For external relations…Towson named Carl Evans senior associate AD and chief development officer…Craig Pintens was the subject of a national question and answer session with the Sports Networking Group…UAB athletics is hosting its annual Belles and Whistles fundraiser April 25 with AD Brian Mackin as featured speaker…Rutgers named former law school dean John J. Farmer Jr. as its senior vice president and general counsel…Dr. Carol Folt has become the first female chancellor in University of North Carolina history…Former St. Cloud State AD Morris Kurtz has been named special assistant for operations at Penn State athletics.

The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will be played Dec. 26 prior to the 36th annual Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30. Both contests will be held at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium…The Belk Bowl will be played Dec. 28 in Charlotte, N.C., and all three will be televised nationally by ESPN.

The Atlantic Coast Conference just completed its ACC Sportsmanship Week observances yesterday with several schools and individuals being recognized. The conference also selected Tim Lynde as senior associate commissioner for brand marketing, and the ACC national football coaches teleconference is set for Thursday, April 25, with live audiostreaming…New pending divisions for the Big Ten Conference will emphasize geographic alignment…Old Dominion athletics has suggested rival James Madison as a possible future Conference USA member…The Mountain West Conference announced its composite schedule for 2013 last week, and the full schedule can be found at…The ACC had nine golfing alumni in the 77th Masters last weekend as former NFF National Scholar-Athlete and chairman of Augusta National Billy Payne (Georgia) provided his usual national-class hospitality. A previous Masters’ winner also was Colorado football-golf standout Hale Irwin while 18-golf-major winner Jack Nicklaus starred in youth football in Columbus, Ohio, before turning most of his athletics’ attention to golf…The Colonial Athletic Association announced its complete 2013 schedule…Tiffany Daniels has been named associate commissioner and senior woman administrator at the Southeastern Conference…The 2013 Big South Conference Hall of Fame class includes retiring Winthrop President Dr. Anthony J. DiGiorgio, the longest-serving president in Winthrop history from 1989-2013 and Big South President from 1992-98 and 2006-09.

The NFL Network revealed the list of NFL prospects attending the 2013 NFL Draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last week and will provide wall-to-wall coverage Thursday (starting at 8 p.m., EDT), April 25, through Saturday, April 27 (ending at noon EDT) of all rounds 1-7…NBC Sports will extend its 22-season tradition of live coverage of the Bayou Classic between Grambling and Southern U. at the Mercedes- Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La., through the 2015 season.

SMU relies on CB Kenneth Acker after 2013 spring practice as the only one of seven All-Conference USA selections returning this autumn…Wideout Gabe Holmes paced both teams with four catches for 74 yards in the Black squad’s 14-0 win over the Gold in Purdue’s annual spring encounter…Wyoming has a three-way spring standoff going at running back where sophomores D.J.
