Colonial final: They’re saying ‘Boo’

FORT WORTH — Boo Weekley nearly sunk a 20-footer for birdie on his 72nd hole that would have moved him to 15-under for the tournament.

It lipped out, but Weekley is still sitting pretty with a two-stroke lead over Matt Kuchar, the only guy out on the course with a chance to catch Weekley at 14-under. Kuchar is not in the fairway on 18 and needs to hole his second shot from wherever he is.

So it’s going to be Boo, whose two previous PGA Tour victories came at the Verizon Heritage (2007 and 2008) in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Guess what they give the winner at the Verizon? A plaid jacket. He’ll have three now.

Weekley finished the week at Colonial Country Club with a 66. So he went 67-67-66-66. That’s steady great playing.

Zach Johnson, as expected, made a move on Sunday. He shot 32 on the front nine in the final round, but came back in just 1-under and finished the tournament two back of Weekley.
