The Allen Americans continue to add big names to their 2014-2015 roster with the signing of Tyler Ludwig to a deal for the upcoming season.
Tyler Ludwig is back for a fourth year with the Allen Americans, coming off his best season as a pro with 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points, along with winning the CHL Award for the Top Defenseman in the league this past season.
Ludwig a 6’1, 200 pound veteran defenseman from Rhinelander, Wisconsin, is entering his sixth season as a professional and will turn 30 years old next May. He has a combined nine games at the American Hockey League level with all three Texas AHL teams, the San Antonio Rampage, Texas Stars and Houston Aeros.
He played four years of college hockey at Western Michigan University from 2006-2009, while playing his junior hockey 15 minutes from Allen, with the Texas Tornado of the North American Hockey League.
“Tyler Ludwig has improved every season and we welcome him back,” said Allen Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson.
“He works hard and he takes his job serious, and because of that he’s the best defenseman in the CHL.”
The Americans defenseman has won several championships during his long hockey career, winning back to back titles with Allen the last two seasons, as well as multiple titles with the Tornado of the NAHL, and a high school championship on a team coached by Americans Team President, Matt Canavan.
With the signing today of Tyler Ludwig, the Americans now have the last two Most Outstanding Defenseman winners on their roster, with Allen’s recent signing of free agent Kevin Young.
