The Texas Rangers announced Wednesday that former Frisco
RoughRiders pitcher John Fasola has been named the organization’s
Minor League Reliever of the Month for July.
Fasola, 24, made 10 relief appearances in July for Frisco and
was 5-for-5 in save opportunities. He went 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA (2 ER
in 15.0 IP), allowing just five hits, three walks and striking out 16
in that span. Fasola closed out the month with 12 consecutive
scoreless innings, one of the longest scoreless streaks for Riders
pitchers this season.
The righty out of Hudson, Ohio joined the RoughRiders May 23 from
Extended Spring Training, after beginning the season with Class
A-Advanced High Desert and making two appearances for Triple-A Round
Rock. He worked a total of 22 games with the Riders, going 3-1 with a
3.73 ERA, striking out 35, and walking just nine.
As a result of his impressive work out of the bullpen, Fasola
was promoted to Round Rock on August 3. In three games since rejoining
the Express, Fasola has allowed one earned run in 3 2/3 innings of
work with no walks and three strikeouts.
Fasola is the sixth player to earn a Rangers Minor League
monthly award this year for his contributions to the Riders. In April,
Ryan Cordell (Player of the Month), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (Defender), and
Ryne Slack (Reliever) were honored by the Rangers. Victor Payano
(Pitcher) and Alberto Triunfel (Defender) were recognized for their
performances in June.
Aside from Fasola, former Riders pitcher Nick Martinez, now
teammates with Fasola in Round Rock, was named the organization’s
Pitcher of the Month for July. High Desert outfielder Scott Heineman
(Player) and infielder Jose Trevino (Defender) were also recognized by
the Rangers.
The Riders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a six-game homestand
beginning Tuesday, August 16 against Springfield. The homestand
includes Olympic Night on Friday, August 19 and Star Wars Night on
Saturday, August 20. Tickets for the upcoming homestand and the
remaining 13 games at Dr Pepper Ballpark this season are available
online at RidersBaseball.com, via email at info@ridersbaseball.com,
over the phone at (972) 731-9200, or in-person at the RoughRiders box
office.

Rangers and play their games at beautiful Dr Pepper Ballpark in
Frisco, Texas. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first
among all Double-A franchises in attendance in each of the last 11
seasons (2005-2015). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by
an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg and Scott Sonju. The new
ownership group, together with the city of Frisco, has spearheaded
numerous major franchise improvements over the past two seasons,
investing over $7 million in wide array of facility upgrades and
improvements, including the new state-of-the-art HD video board, sound
system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store,

Digest. More than 130 former RoughRiders players have gone on to
play Major League Baseball, including All-Stars Chris Davis, Elvis
Andrus, Adrian Gonzalez, Ian Kinsler, Nelson Cruz, and C.J. Wilson as
