College Football Playoff Nov. 22, 2016, Rankings (Fourth of Six in ’16)Quick Notes:

  • Alabama needs has ied USC for the most consecutive weeks in either the BCS or CFP standings at 65 from 2008-16. USC appeared in 65 consecutive BCS standings from 2002-09. Next on the listings in either rankings are Texas with 56 from 2003-10 and Ohio State with 50 from 2004-10.
  • Just three different schools and two conferences have been represented at No. 1 in the 2014-16 CFP rankings. Alabama has appeared there eight times, Florida State of the ACC has been No. 1 six times, and Mississippi State has three No. 1 standings. The 2014 season was the first Mississippi State ever had been No. 1 nationally in any Top 25 football polling.
  • New teams to the CFP rankings in 2016 are Arkansas, Colorado, Penn State, Virginia, Washington, and Western Michigan. There have been 54 schools represented in the first three seasons of the CFP.
  • Nine of the 10 CFP conferences have had representation in at least one survey. The SEC retains the lead with 91 composite appearances in 17 standings. The Pac-12 is next with 82 just ahead of the Big Ten Conference at 80.
