When the Dallas Stars acquired veteran defenseman Dan Hamhuis as
a free agent, Stars GM Jim Nill was ecstatic that the team finally had
the Big Veteran defenseman that they were so desperate for. According
to an unnamed source in the Dallas Stars Hockey Operations, who asked
for anonymity explained,
“we were bullied last year in the playoffs by the St.Louis
defense and we weren’t going to let that happen this season. We got rid
of all our olde,r smallist defensemen who weren’t clearing out the
opposing forwards from infront of the net and couldn’t really move the
puck up the ice offensively.”
Hamhuis gives the Stars the BIG top two defenseman that the
organization hasn’t seen since Captain Darian Hatcher and Richard
Matvichuk lead them to a Stanley Cup.
