Stars bad luck: 13 games, 13 points behind in 13th place
The Dallas Stars are running into bad luck as they face their
last 13 games of the season in 13th place trailing the last playoff
spot by 13 points. The Stars have already shown a tremendous decrease
in scoring from last season, a porous defensive corp of inexperienced
youth and, worse of all, inexcusable goaltending. Hockey operations
are praying that the expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights relieve their
pain by selecting one of two overpriced netminders.
Fans are calling for a house cleaning in goal with Kari
Lehtonen’s $5 million and Anti Niemi’s $4.5 million salaries next
season. It would cost the Stars over $3.5 million in 2017 salary
budget for a buyout of both. No way Las Vegas nabs one of the Stars
disastrous duos when Ben Bishop, Marc Andre Fleury, Anttti Raanta and
Joonsa Korpistholyis are available.
Overall the Organization must start over at the top after a
series of poor judgements by GM Jim Nill that has the Stars with their
worst record since moving to Texas.
