Conference Play Heats Up in Week Seven
Eight of the league’s teams continue conference play this
weekend while BU visits Washington. Here are the conference notes for
week seven:
* In weekend two of Big 12 action, Texas swept K-State at home,
TCU won three straight vs. OSU in Fort Worth, and Oklahoma took a 2-1
series win at Baylor.
* This weekend in conference play: UT visits KU, Tech faces OU,
WVU travels to OSU, and TCU hits the road vs. K- State.
* The league holds a 32-15 (.681) record over Power 5 Conference
teams, having 12 wins over Pac-12 and 11 wins vs. the SEC.
* Offensively, OU leads the way with a .300 batting average and
tops the pitching statistics with a 2.73 ERA. KSU’s Thompson and TTU’s
Little lead the league with a .385 batting average.
* TCU’s Austen Wade recorded Big 12 Player of the Week honors.
UT’s Logan Kingham was named Pitcher of the Week while Tech’s Grant
Little earned Newcomer of the Week.
* Six of the league’s teams are receiving votes in at least one
poll nationally, including six in the NCBWA poll. TCU and Texas Tech
lead with multiple No. 3 and No. 4 rankings, respectively.
* Four of the league’s teams currently have a .750 or better
overall record. Seven teams have recorded a .600 or better record
through six weeks of competition.
