Allen heads to playoffs with two ECHL MVP’S

The ECHL announced that Allen Americans Goalie Riley Gill has
been named the 2016-2017 Goalie of the Year. Riley Gill finished tied
for the most shutouts in the league this year with seven, a career
high for Riley in one season. He also finished with 32 wins, which was
one shy of his high water mark of 33, set two seasons ago. In three
years with Allen, Gill has 78 victories in 122 starts. The native of
Minnesota is in his third season with the Americans. Gill has three
Kelly Cup Championships on his resume, two with the Americans and one
with the Reading Royals in the 2012-2013 season.
In addition, the league also crowned ECHL Scoring Champion
Chad Costello as the CCM Hockey ECHL MVP for the second consecutive
season. The award is presented to the most valuable player to a team
by ECHL Coaches, Broadcasters, Media Relations Directors and a few
selected Media. Costello, who was named to the All-ECHL First Team
last week, led the league in scoring for the third consecutive season
with 122 points (33g-89a) in 72 games. He is one of just eight players
in league history to record multiple 100-point seasons and one of just
four to do so in consecutive seasons. Costello also led the league in
2016-17 with 89 assists,40 power -play assists and 49 power-play
points. His 89 assists rank as the fourth most in a single season in
ECHL history. Costello has tallied 489 points(146g-343a) in 309 career
ECHL games with Allen, Ontario, Texas and Colorado. His 343 assists
rank 18th all-time in league history.
