Red Raider Pair & UT Pitcher Garner Weekly Awards

Texas Tech’s Hunter Hargrove and Brian Klein along with Morgan
Cooper of Texas have been selected for the 11th set of Big 12 baseball
weekly awards. Texas Tech and Texas earned series wins over conference
opponents this weekend. This is the second career honor for Hargrove
and first career accolade for Cooper and Klein.

Hunter Hargrove, Texas Tech
Sr., INF, Mansfield, Texas
* Racked up a .500/.722/.583 line in five games last week and recorded
nine hits in 18 at-bats while drove in six runs and scoring six more
for 13 total bases.
* Was instrumental in TTU’s 61 runs & 67 hits overall last week as
he tied with teammate Brian Klein for the most hits per game at nine.
* Had multi-hit performances against New Mexico (4) and TCU (3)
and continues to lead the league in hits with 66, doubles with 19 and
total bases with 104.

Morgan Cooper, Texas, RJr., RHP, Jarrell, Texas
* Dominated over 7.0 shutout innings on the road at Oklahoma State.
* Was perfect through 3.2 innings before allowing a two-out
single, the first of just two hits he would allow on Friday.
* Did not allow a run and walked just one while striking out a
career-high-tying 11 batters. This marks Cooper’s third double-digit
strikeout effort of the season. He lowered his ERA to a league-best
1.45 and now sits atop the strikeout board with 86.

Brian Klein, Texas Tech
Fr., INF, Keller, Texas
* Had a career week against two 2016 NCAA Tournament teams and
recorded a Big 12-high nine hits in 19 at-bats for a .474/.947/.476
* Included in his nine hits were a double, a triple and two
homers, also driving in 10 runs and scoring eight.
* Had a hit in every game last week with four against New Mexico
on April 26 and two against TCU on April 30.
