Summer heats up at TMS with return of Friday Night Drags
Texas Motor Speedway’s racing season continues this summer with
the return of Friday Night Drags, beginning June 23 and continuing
every Friday through July 28.
Pit road – used by NASCAR and INDYCAR stars – is turned into a
1/8-mile drag strip for the six-week summer series. Racers compete
for weekly and season-long championships in seven different divisions.
Racers accumulating the most points in each division will win a
Snap-On roll cart. Each week, competitors accumulate points for a
six-week total. Three points for the weekly winner, two to the
runner-up and one to all other competitors. Racers with perfect
attendance during the six weeks receive a two-point bonus.
Racers participating can win prizes during the weekly drawing
held at the drivers’ meeting. Each week seven lucky winners will
receive a Snap-On Tools item. Weekly prizes include a 3/8-drive
ratchet; American flag wrapped 3/8-drive air impact; borescope; 3/8
drive cordless ratchet; seat creeper; and 3/8-drive cordless impact
set.
Friday Night Drags will celebrate Independence Day with a
fireworks show on Friday, June 30. TMS also will welcome Jeeps from
across the area during “Jeep Night” scheduled for July 14.
Gates open weekly at 6 p.m. with inspection, practice and Hills
Air Support Show-N-Shine beginning at 6:15 p.m. Drag racing
competition begins at 9:15 p.m
The cost is $20 to participate in the drag racing or hills Air
Support Show-N-Shine competition each week. GA grandstand tickets are
$10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available
at www.texasmotorspeedway.com or at the Gate 6 ticket booth. Parking
is free in the PSL lot outside of Gate 6 and available for $20 in the
infield (includes admission). Coolers are permitted.
